What is Hard Water? It is water with a high mineral content and it is formed when water percolates through calcium and magnesium-containing minerals like limestone or chalk. Think of it like how coffee is made. First you have ground up coffee beans in a filter and when you pour water in the coffee grounds it trickles through the grounds and picks up the characteristics of the coffee. the same with how water becomes hard in our natural reservoirs and city water supplies. Like many of you out there we have spent a considerable amount of time, effort and money building our tiny house and taking precautions so that we may have many years of maintenance free fixtures. when we first moved into our tiny house believe me hard water was the last thing on my mind, actually it wasn’t even on our radar. The kit comes with water hardness test strips which you can use to test your water hardness and therefore gauge when you will need to regenerate the unit. To recharge all you need is 2 boxes of salt (1 for the standard, 4 for the park) and you pour the salt in the system and flush it for about 30mins.

When you purchase the soft water system it is ready to go out of the box so installation only took a few minutes. Once the water softener was installed i noticed the difference immediately!
